Operaen

Opera at Holmen in Copenhagen is Denmark's national opera. It was opened by the Queen on the 15th January 2005 . It was designed by architect Henning Larsen and has Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller as a promoter, builder and patron.

The construction of the Opera has aroused debate about aesthetics , both in view of the location and the house's exterior. Recently it has emerged that the architect Henning Larsen thought of going from job due to disagreements between him and the giver, A.P. Møller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Fond til almene FormaalThe discrepancies between the two sides has focused primarily on the design of the facade of the Opera at the harbor, where Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller insisted on inserting steel beams within Henning Larsen Architects proposed glass facade. The large glass facade with the large steel band has subsequently coined the nicknames "grille" and "toaster"

The extreme cantilever on the canopy is certainly dramatic.  The location on the harbor is perfect, even though it prevents easy access for concert attendees.
